Privacy Policy
1. Who We Are
Classic Car Show Finder (“we,” “us,” “our”) is a mobile application owned and operated by Brown Technical Services LLC, based in Metro Detroit, Michigan. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Classic Car Show Finder app (the “App”) and our website at classiccarshowfinder.com (the “Website”).
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Display name (you choose this)
- Profile photo (optional, you upload this)
You may also sign in with Apple or Google, in which case we receive the name and email associated with that account. We store your account information securely using Firebase Authentication by Google.
You may use certain features of the App without creating an account, including browsing events on the map, viewing event details, and searching.
2.2 Location Data
We request access to your device’s location to show you events near you. Specifically:
- Map and event discovery: Your approximate location is used to center the map and calculate distances to events. This data is processed on your device and is not stored on our servers.
- GPS check-ins (Pit Pass and Event Pro subscribers only): When you voluntarily check in at an event to earn a digital dash plaque, your precise location is sent to our server one time to verify you are within 500 meters of the event venue. We store only the fact that you checked in — not your coordinates and not your ongoing location.
We do not track your location in the background. We do not build a location history. We do not sell or share location data with any third party. You can use the App without granting location permission — you will just need to browse events manually instead of seeing nearby results automatically.
2.3 Content You Create
When you use the App, you may voluntarily create:
- Star ratings and written reviews of events (up to 500 characters)
- Structured review responses (crowd size, parking, car variety, highlights)
- Photos uploaded to event pages or your My Garage profile
- Private notes on events (visible only to you)
- Event submissions (suggesting events to be added to the App)
- Community tag confirmations (confirming amenities and entertainment at events)
Reviews, ratings, community tag confirmations, and event photos you upload are visible to other App users. Your display name and profile photo are shown alongside your reviews. Private notes are stored securely and are never shared with other users or third parties.
2.4 Usage and Analytics Data
We collect anonymous usage data to understand how the App is used and to improve it. This includes:
- Which screens you visit and how long you spend on them
- Which events you view, search for, favorite, or mark as “Going”
- App session information (when you open and close the App)
- Device type, operating system version, and app version
- Crash reports and error logs
This data is collected through Firebase Analytics by Google. It is used in aggregate to improve the App and is not used to identify you personally or to build an advertising profile.
2.5 Subscription and Payment Data
If you subscribe to Pit Pass or Event Pro, your payment is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not collect, store, or have access to your credit card number, bank account, or payment method details. We receive only a confirmation of your subscription status and its expiration date.
2.6 Evolution System Data
The App includes a gamification feature called the Evolution System. We track your XP (experience points), tier level, earned badges, dash plaque collection, and seasonal leaderboard position as part of your profile. This data is tied to your account and is used to display your progress within the App.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Show you events near your current location
- Let you save favorite events, write reviews, and upload photos
- Verify GPS check-ins for the dash plaque system
- Track your Evolution System progress (XP, tiers, badges)
- Send push notifications about new events near you and weather alerts (Pit Pass and Event Pro subscribers only, and only if you opt in)
- Provide event analytics to organizers who use Event Pro (shown in aggregate — organizers see total views, favorites, and check-in counts, not individual user identities)
- Moderate user-submitted content (reviews, photos, event submissions) using automated tools and manual review
- Improve the App based on aggregate usage patterns
- Communicate with you about your account or respond to support requests
4. Photo Moderation
Photos uploaded to event pages are automatically screened using Google Cloud Vision to detect inappropriate content. This automated screening happens at the time of upload. Photos that are flagged are queued for manual review before becoming visible to other users. We do not use your photos for any purpose other than displaying them in the App and moderating them for content policy compliance.
5. Information We Share
We share information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We use Firebase (Google) for authentication, database, storage, analytics, and cloud functions. Google processes this data on our behalf under their data processing terms. We use Google Cloud Vision for photo moderation.
- Public content: Reviews, ratings, and event photos you choose to post are visible to other App users.
- Aggregate analytics: Event Pro subscribers (event organizers) can see aggregate statistics about their events, such as total views, favorites, and check-in counts. They cannot see individual user identities or personal information.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government regulation, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Brown Technical Services LLC, our users, or the public.
6. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Firebase (Google Cloud) data centers in the United States. We use industry-standard security measures including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Firebase Security Rules that restrict database access to authorized users
- Server-side validation for all sensitive operations (check-ins, reviews, subscriptions)
- Separation of private data (notes, email) from public data (reviews, display names)
No system is 100% secure. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained for as long as your account is active.
- Reviews and photos: Retained for as long as they remain posted. You can delete your own reviews at any time.
- Analytics logs: Retained for up to 24 months, then deleted or anonymized.
- Check-in records and dash plaques: Retained for the lifetime of your account as part of your collection.
- Private notes: Retained until you delete them or delete your account.
8. Your Rights and Choices
- Access: You can view your profile information, reviews, favorites, and check-in history within the App at any time.
- Correction: You can edit your display name, profile photo, and reviews within the App.
- Deletion: You can delete your account from the Settings screen in the App. This permanently deletes your account information, reviews, photos, check-in history, XP progress, badges, and all associated data. This action cannot be undone.
- Location: You can revoke location permission at any time in your device’s Settings.
- Notifications: You can disable push notifications at any time in your device’s Settings or within the App.
- Data export: You may contact us to request a copy of your personal data.
9. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete that information promptly. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
10. Third-Party Links
The App may contain links to third-party websites and services, including mapping providers (Apple Maps and Google Maps) for driving directions, and external event organizer websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
11. Advertising
The free Spectator tier of the App displays advertisements. These ads are served through standard mobile ad networks. Ad providers may collect anonymous device identifiers for ad targeting purposes, subject to your device’s advertising and privacy settings. You can limit ad tracking through your device’s privacy settings (such as Apple’s App Tracking Transparency or Android’s advertising ID settings). Pit Pass and Event Pro subscribers enjoy an ad-free experience.
12. State-Specific Rights
If you are a resident of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, or another state with consumer privacy legislation, you may have additional rights including the right to know what data we collect, the right to delete your data, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. As stated above, we do not sell personal information. To exercise any data rights, please contact us using the information below.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was most recently revised. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
